Volleyball Shoulder & Back Shoulder Pain

Star Shape - Muscle Support & Pain Relief Shapes

RapidForce® Shapes stabilize and support the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the back shoulder. The Star Shape is designed to reduce swelling by gently lifting the skin above the pain point, which can help circulate blood, oxygen, fluids, and nutrients to an injury site.

Although common in players of any age, shoulder pain from volleyball is most prevalent in teenagers and youth players, usually due to improper conditioning, training, or self-care. Giving the body’s muscles, joints, tendons, and tissues plenty of rest in between competitions and training sessions is critical, both for performance and overall health. Young players are less likely than adult athletes to know how to manage pain or injuries.

Volleyball requires many overhead arm movements which can understandably lead to shoulder pain, including serving, setting, blocking, and spiking. However, the sport’s fast pace also requires other sudden or unpredictable body movements—such as diving into the sand or colliding with another player—that can also cause strains, sprains, or pulls. Injuries to the rotator cuff, scapular, or other upper-body areas could also be causing pain to radiate to the shoulder or shoulder blade.

Volleyball players with back shoulder pain often describe the pain as sharp or aching and the shoulder as feeling stiff, weak, fatigued, or numb. Popping or snapping sounds are common, and the shoulder area may also appear mildly swollen, which is the body’s natural response to tissue damage.

RapidForce® Star Shapes are designed to help reduce muscle pain and are especially effective young volleyball players experiencing shoulder pain. The Star Shape’s central core is placed over the pain point in the shoulder, which stabilizes the injury, and its six arms are stretched outwards, providing structural support for the muscles and tissues in the surrounding area. The Shape is also designed to create mechanical lift, which can encourage blood, oxygen, nutrients, and healing fluids to flow to the injury site more efficiently.

RapidForce® Shapes are unlike any other pain-relief product on the market today. Each Shape’s patented design was carefully developed and perfected by a team of physical therapists, athletic trainers, engineers, and an ultrasound technician who sought to create a product that supports the muscles and helps relieve pain caused by muscle, tendon, joint, and ligament injuries. RapidForce® Shapes are used by athletes at all levels, including professional athletes, semi-pro athletes, and people who lead or want to lead an active lifestyle.
