Lower Back Pain

Star Shape - Muscle Support & Pain Relief Shapes

RapidForce® Shapes stabilize and support the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the lower back. The Star Shape is designed to reduce swelling by gently lifting the skin above the pain point, which can help circulate blood, oxygen, fluids, and nutrients to an injury site.

Lower back pain comes in many forms: a dull aching, general tightness, quick spasms, a stinging or burning sensation, sudden sharpness, numbness, or tingling.

Lower back injuries, defined as those below the ribcage, often occur when the muscles, soft tissue, or ligaments surrounding the spine are sprained or strained, but they can also occur when the spine simply has too much stress upon it, usually from repeated movements, sudden impacts, twisting, bending, falling, or lifting.

Pain in the lower back occurs when pain receptors come into contact with inflammatory chemicals, when blood vessels are ruptured, or when connective tissue is damaged. The post-injury healing process requires the body to reestablish proper blood flow to the injury site, circulate oxygen and nutrients throughout the bloodstream, and/or produce new connective tissue (fibroplasia), which itself requires proper blood, oxygen, and nutrient flow.

RapidForce® Large Star Shapes are designed to do just that: encourage proper circulation of blood, oxygen, fluids, and nutrients to an injury site. The center point of the star serves as an anchor, and the six stretchable arms help stabilize the tissue, muscle, tendons, and ligaments beneath the skin. Critically, as a result of their strength and adhesive power, the Shapes also create mechanical lift, which literally lifts the upper layers of skin and provides more space for blood to flow and inflammatory chemicals to disperse.

RapidForce® Shapes are unlike any other pain-relief product on the market today. Each Shape’s patented design was carefully developed and perfected by a team of physical therapists, athletic trainers, engineers, and an ultrasound technician who sought to create a product that supports the muscles and helps relieve pain caused by muscle, tendon, joint, and ligament injuries. RapidForce® Shapes are used by athletes at all levels, including professional athletes, semi-pro athletes, and people who lead or want to lead an active lifestyle.

Time it Right

While RapidForce® Shapes can be applied at any time, they should be applied 1–2 hours before beginning strenuous physical activity. The Shapes can start working is as little as two hours, but some applications take up to four hours.

Prep Skin Thoroughly

Wash and dry the skin to remove oils, moisture, and dirt. Trim or shave body hair; this helps create a more secure bond and more comfortable removal. Apply the provided Skin Tac liquid adhesive wipe. Allow 30 seconds for it to dry.

Customize Stretch

Secure the Shape’s central core to the most painful spot. For daily wear or moderate-to-light athletics, a mild stretch of 1/2” is ideal. Application instructions vary based on Shape, so read and follow the instructions mailed with your shape(s).

Secure Bond

With both the Shape and the skin at room temperature, carefully begin applying the shape. Once the shape is secure, rub it vigorously to maximize adhesive bond to skin.

  1. 1. Find the Pain Point

    1. Find the Pain Point

Gently press on your lower back to find the most painful area.

  2. 1. Find the Pain Point

    2. Apply the Central Core

Peel off the Star Shape’s center backing, then bend over at the waist, just slightly so as not to cause further pain. Vertically align the two smaller arms with the spine. Apply the center circle of the Star Shape to the most painful spot. Press down to secure the center point’s adhesive bond.

  3. 1. Find the Pain Point

    3. Apply the Long Arms - 1/2" Stretch

Peel off the middle backing of one of the larger arms, leaving the end point’s backing in place. While stabilizing the center with one hand, pull the arm as tautly as your level of activity requires (see above). Orient the arm so it is sticking straight out from the center. Smooth the fabric onto the skin, moving from center to edges. Remove the backing from the end tab and place on the skin; do not stretch this small end piece. Rub on the entire shape for about 10 seconds to secure the bond. Follow these instructions for all four long arms of the Star Shape.

  4. 1. Find the Pain Point

    4. Apply the Short Arms

Remove the backing from one of the short arms and apply to your skin. Do not stretch the short arms. Repeat with second short arm.

  5. 1. Find the Pain Point

    5. Feel Relief and Remove

You may begin feeling relief within a few hours. However, it could take up to 24 hours. RapidForce shapes can provide pain relief and muscle support for up to five days but can be removed at any time. To remove, pull from the end of the arms to the center. If hair is present, pull in the direction of the hair’s growth to reduce discomfort. For easier removal, use mild warm water in the shower and then remove the shape slowly.
